ELUPRO has inked a tripartite agreement with energy companies of Oman and Thailand named Muscat House and MA Corporation respectively to partner for the production, supply, and sale of green ammonia. Earlier, Muscat House and ELUFO Oman (a subsidiary of ELUFO) inked a contract for the production and supply of green ammonia. At a similar time, ELUPRO inked a green ammonia sales contract with MA Corporation.
As part of these agreements, ELUPRO and Muscat House plan to construct a green ammonia production facility in Oman’s Duhok Economic Free Zone next year through ELUFO Oman. The facility aims to begin supplying green ammonia to Thailand in 2027.
ELUPRO and Muscat House initially plan to utilise a 2 GW power generation facility to produce 1 million tons of green ammonia annually, totaling 5 million tons over five years. Additionally, they plan to expand power capacity to over 5 GW. This expansion will enable the production of more than 2.5 million tons of green ammonia per year. The increased production will cater to global markets, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.
REGlobal’s Views: Oman is slowly emerging as a major investment hotspot for large green hydrogen projects with many massive projects in the pipeline. The country has a rich untapped renewable energy potential and is expected to become a major exporter of green hydrogen in the coming years. In order to bring down costs, common infrastructure is being developed in the country to supply water to developers and transport the produced green hydrogen to ports.
