Enefit Green, a firm that develops renewable energy, intends to invest €450 million over the following two years in the construction of wind farms in Estonia and Lithuania. The company proposes to construct the 80 MW Kelme wind farm in Lithuania and the 255 MW Sopi-Tootsi wind farm in Estonia. Sopi-Tootsi, located in North Pärnu County, will be equipped with 38 wind turbines and will be the largest project in the Baltic States in terms of capacity upon completion. Enefit has already made the final investment decision for Sopi-Tootsi Wind Farm.
Additionally, Enefit Green intends to construct a 63 MW solar park nearby; the solar park’s final investment decision is scheduled for 2023. The first stage of a three-phase development project is the Kelme Wind Farm. The first stage of the Kelme wind plant will cost €145 million, while the Sopi-Tootsi wind farm will require an investment of €305 million. Along with the Sopi-Tootsi Wind Farm, the company took part in the 110 GWh national tender. Enefit Green has also concluded long-term power purchase and sale agreements to fund the development of both wind farm sites. The operations for both projects are anticipated to begin in 2024.
In April 2022, OX2 signed an agreement with TMV Green to build 500 MW of onshore wind facilities in Estonia. For the wind facilities in the project portfolio, TMV Green would be responsible for land use, licensing, and grid connection. Since 2020, the company has been developing wind power projects in Estonia.
