Envision has commissioned a green hydrogen and ammonia production facility at the Chifeng Net Zero Industrial Park in China. The plant operates entirely off-grid and is powered by a renewable energy system. The facility is fully AI-integrated, enabling real-time operational optimisation. The plant has begun delivering 320,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, with exports expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The facility utilises surplus renewable electricity to produce liquid nitrogen through a dynamic air-separation unit. Electrolysers respond to variations in renewable energy generation by adjusting power intake and ammonia output, allowing for more efficient energy use and production stability. The energy system includes advanced wind turbines, grid-forming battery storage, and predictive weather modeling, which together balance the supply-demand dynamics of power generation and ammonia synthesis.

The facility uses green ammonia as a medium for hydrogen transport and storage. The AI-enabled system coordinates renewable generation and fuel production without requiring grid support. By 2028, the industrial park is expected to scale up production to 1.5 million tonnes of green ammonia annually.
