Norway-based Gen2 Energy has secured a 150 MW grid capacity reservation for its green hydrogen project at Monstad in Åfjord municipality. This will strengthen the project’s power connectivity framework. The project will produce up to 60 tonnes of liquefied green hydrogen per day. The reservation pertains to the existing transmission network and ensures access to the required grid capacity for the proposed facility.

Gen2 Energy is focused on developing, owning and operating an integrated green hydrogen value chain in Norway. The company currently has a project portfolio of approximately 995 MW and plans to establish a complete hydrogen value chain targeting the maritime, mobility and industry sectors.

Earlier, in May 2026, the company announced that its Gen2 Nesbruket project had been selected for funding support under the European Innovation Fund 2025 Hydrogen Auction administered by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The Nesbruket facility, planned at Mosjøen in Norway, will combine large-scale electrolysis and hydrogen liquefaction infrastructure to supply liquefied green hydrogen to maritime customers.
