Bavaria secured the largest share of awarded capacity in the auction, totaling 689 MW secured from 106 bids. This was followed by Rhineland-Palatinate with an awarded capacity of 251 MW from 23 bids, and Lower Saxony with an awarded capacity of 250 MW from 18 bids.

REGlobal’s Views: Solar installations have been on the rise when compared to wind in Germany, enabled by supportive policies as well as increasing affordability of solar. While wind turbine installations face local resistance in many areas, solar power is comparatively easier to install especially on on rooftops and balconies. In fact, the country witnessed a higher capacity addition in rooftop solar when compared to ground-mounted in early 2025.
