Globeleq has launched the Leopards Hill project which combines a 250 MWp solar PV with a 150 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The project, located near Lusaka, is being developed in partnership with Leopard Investment Company and will supply electricity to approximately 150,000 households annually. The project’s financial close is targeted by the end of 2026. Globeleq has also executed a grid connection agreement with ZESCO for the project.

In June 2025, Globeleq, along with its project partner African Rainbow Energy, reached a commercial close of the Red Sands battery energy storage project. It is a 153 MW/612 MWh project situated in South Africa. The commercial close for the project has been achieved by inking the project agreements with the Department of Electricity and Energy and the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA).

In May 2025, Sungrow and Globeleq inked a BESS supply and a 15-year long-term service term sheet for the Red Sands battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The project is situated in South Africa and has a capacity of 153 MW/612 MWh. The project is a part of South Africa’s inaugural Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP).
