GridStor has acquired the 100 MW/400 MWh White Tank battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Arizona from Strata Clean Energy. The project, located in Maricopa County, will operate under a 20-year tolling agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS). The project is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027, with Strata continuing to provide consultative support until commercial operations commence.
The White Tank BESS project is intended to address the state’s increasing power requirements as Arizona records new highs in peak demand. Under the tolling arrangement, APS will have the ability to charge and discharge electricity according to system needs, ensuring reliable supply during both peak and off-peak periods.
In August 2025, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its CI V fund, acquired the Beehive BESS projects in Peoria, Arizona, from EDF Power Solutions North America. The 250 MW project with four-hour duration is backed by a 20-year tolling agreement with APS and is scheduled to begin commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
