JinkoSolar has inked a module supply agreement with HuanTai Energy for the Gobustan solar project in Azerbaijan. The 100 MW solar project will adopt JinkoSolar’s N-type TOPCon modules. The solar plant is expected to generate 180 million kWh of electricity annually, thereby contributing to Azerbaijan’s goal of reaching a 30 per cent share of renewables by 2030.
The project is located in Gobustan, Azerbaijan, and will face harsh environmental conditions like summer temperatures going up to 45°C, high wind speeds with sand, and high salinity. These N-type TOPCon modules, with a bifaciality of up to 85%, from JinkoSolar’ reportedly have a high power output per watt and can perform adequately in all weather conditions.
Earlier in October 2024, JinkoSolar inked a supply contract with ACWA Power for approximately 3 GW of photovoltaic modules for the Saudi PIF4 project. The contract includes two sub-projects within the PIF4 cluster: the Haden and Al-Khushaybi solar power stations.
REGlobal’s Views: Various solar investment hotspots have emerged in the West Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East which are rapidly ramping up their solar portfolios to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. These markets provide an attractive export market for solar PV manufacturing majors, particularly from China, that may have been impacted by recent trade policies of large solar markets like the US, India and many countries in the EU.
