KBR has been selected by ORNX Green Hydrogen to provide pre-front-end engineering design (Pre-FEED)  services and technology licensing for a low-carbon ammonia project located in the Laâyoune region in Morocco.  The project is supported by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) funding. The project will use approximately 900 MW of electrolyzer capacity.

Furthermore, the project is expected to produce around 560,000 tonnes of ammonia annually. The project will combine renewable power generation, hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis. The project is expected to supply low-carbon ammonia to global fertilizer, maritime and industrial markets in Morocco. KBR also supported ORNX in securing the USTDA grant for the study.

In February 2026, TAQA Morocco and Moeve signed a preliminary land reservation agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco under the country’s Green Hydrogen Offer. The two companies were selected in 2025 as a consortium to develop a large-scale project focused on producing green ammonia and industrial fuel in the southern regions of Morocco. The agreement signing will enable the commencement of feasibility studies.
