Lhyfe, a French green hydrogen developer, has finalised a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with VSB Energies Nouvelles concerning a 13.2 MW wind farm in France that will produce electricity for green hydrogen production. Lhyfe Bretagne, which is a 5 MW green and renewable hydrogen production site for Brittany, is located in Buléon.

It is a 16-year contract in which 100 per cent of the green electricity generated by the VSB Energies Nouvelles wind farm in Buléon will be for the Lhyfe Bretagne site. Moreover, the 5 MW hydrogen facility, which will produce up to two tonnes of hydrogen daily for local mobility and industrial uses is expected to start in late 2023.

In June 2023, Lhyfe and Capital Energy partnered to construct offshore renewable hydrogen projects in Spain and Portugal. The two companies collaborated to build hydrogen production facilities at Capital Energy’s offshore wind farm locations. Capital Energy had a 7.5 GW development pipeline in the two countries.

REGlobal’s Views: More such PPAs are expected in the future for Lhyfe as the company focuses on expanding its green hydrogen portfolio. At a time, when energy security and decarbonisation of industries are big concerns in Europe, the company provides green hydrogen for industrial users.
