Nestlé Deutschland is strengthening its commitment to renewable energy. About 70 per cent of its electricity will now be sourced from solar panels and wind farms within Germany. This ensures that production facilities in Hamburg, Neuss, and Biessenhofen will continue to operate on fully renewable power.

This initiative is part of Nestlé’s global plan to decrease energy consumption and transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2025. Nestlé Deutschland plans to procure 80 GWh of renewable electricity annually by the end of 2026, through power purchase agreements with BKW and other energy providers. The company’s total yearly energy needs  are of 113 GWh in Germany.

Furthermore, these new measures will boost Nestlé Deutschland’s direct renewable energy usage to roughly 70 per cent. For the remaining 30 per cent, the company plans to invest in new renewable systems and purchase renewable energy certificates.
