NTPC Renewable Energy has won Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to supply 70,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia under the strategic interventions for green hydrogen transition (SIGHT) programme (Mode-2A, Tranche-I). The company secured the capacity at a tariff of $591 per metric tonnes (MT). Under the agreement, green ammonia will be supplied to Krishana Phoschem in Madhya Pradesh, India for ten years.

Furthermore, NTPC must establish production facilities to supply green ammonia to SECI and secure all approvals and permits, including those for land. It must ensure production, storage, and delivery to the delivery point. The tender was initially floated in June 2024 and subsequently amended to increase the projects under its scope.

In July 2025, ACME won SECI’s auction for 75,000 metric tonnes per annum of green ammonia under the SIGHT programme (Mode-2A, Tranche-I). The company secured the quantity at a tariff of $641 per MT for supply to Paradeep Phosphates Limited in Odisha, India over a 10-year period.

REGlobal’s Views: This is the second in a planned series of 13 green ammonia auctions, under a tender aggregating a cumulative procurement capacity of 724,000 tonnes per year. The discovered price is about 10 times lower than the current price of grey ammonia. The success of these consecutive auctions signals India’s growing price competitiveness in the green ammonia space globally and industry confidence in the Indian green ammonia market.
