Pattern Energy and Salt River Project (SRP) have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for up to 600 MW of electricity from the SunZia wind project in the US Southwest. The SunZia wind project has an installed capacity of 3,650 MW. The project is supported by a 550-mile high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line and represents an $11 billion clean energy investment.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to power around one million homes annually. SRP will begin receiving 400 MW capacity in the fall of 2026, which will increase to 600 MW by summer 2027 to help meet rising electricity demand in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The power supply from the SunZia project will support SRP’s strategy to more than double its generating capacity by 2035 through significant additions of renewable energy, complemented by natural gas generation and battery energy storage systems.

In January 2026, Pattern Energy Group entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cordelio Power, an independent power producer operating in Canada and US. Under the agreement, Pattern Energy will acquire an operating and under-construction renewable portfolio of 1,550 MW from Cordelio Power. This portfolio comprises 16 wind, solar, and energy storage projects located across Canada and the US.
