Plug Power Inc. (Plug) , a leading provider of turnkey hydrogen solutions for the global green hydrogen economy, and Olin Corporation, a leading vertically integrated chlor alkali producer and marketer, have announced the launch of a joint venture that will begin with the development of a 15-ton-per-day hydrogen facility in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.

Reportedly, the two companies’ new venture, Hidrogenii, will promote green hydrogen supply reliability and speed to markets across North America, laying the foundation for the further collaboration. Olin will supply reliable hydrogen supply and operational expertise, while Plug will be the joint venture’s exclusive marketer and provide logistical support for deliveries. The plant will benefit from state and local tax subsidies. The plant’s construction will provide 160 jobs in 2022 and 215 jobs in 2023. The plant is then anticipated to produce more than 25 full-time, permanent jobs in Louisiana.

In December 2021, Plug and ACCIONA Energia, a global developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy projects, announced that their previously announced 50-50 joint venture was completed. The joint venture is known as AccionaPlug, and is based in Madrid. It would develop, operate, and maintain green hydrogen projects in Spain and Portugal.
