Nordic Ren-Gas Oy has raised approximately €16 million in a growth financing round. The funding round also saw participation from Taaleri Investments Ltd and Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd) Additionally, it saw participation from the company’s founders and existing shareholders, Allianz, and Suomen Tavara ja Raha Oy. The raised capital is intended to support Ren-Gas’ renewable e-methane production for the heavy transport and shipping sector in Finland.
Moreover, Ren-Gas is focused on developing power-to-gas solutions to support emission reduction. The company is working towards building a nationwide network of power-to-gas production plants across Finland in collaboration with local energy companies. Its flagship project in Tampere is ready for construction, while its broader development pipeline comprises more than 700 MW of planned electrolysis capacity. This capacity is equivalent to the annual fuel demand of around 7,000 heavy-duty trucks.
In December 2024, Ren-Gas and Wina Energy signed a long-term hydrogen power purchase agreement for the Tampere e-methane project, based on new onshore wind power capacity in Finland. The agreement supports the production of green hydrogen and renewable e-methane.
