Revera Energy has achieved financial close and issued a notice to proceed for the Windyhill battery energy storage system (BESS) in UK. The project has a capacity of 200 MW/400 MWh and is located in Bearsden, around 10 km north-west of Glasgow in Scotland. Construction is set to begin immediately, with commercial operations expected in the first quarter of 2028. Revera will manage construction and long-term asset management. Non-recourse senior debt financing for the Windyhill BESS has been arranged by Santander CIB. GE Vernova will supply the battery systems and provide long-term services.
Furthermore, G2 Mitie has been appointed as the balance-of-plant contractor and maintenance provider. Danske Commodities will manage trading and optimisation services, including a 10-year revenue floor covering the entire project capacity. Revera has an additional pipeline of 800 MW/1,600 MWh of BESS projects with planning approvals, land rights, grid access, and 15-year capacity market agreements. Construction of this pipeline is expected to begin over the next 12 months. Once completed, the company’s UK BESS portfolio will total 1,000 MW.
In February 2026, Revera Energy secured an expanded $150 million credit facility. The financing will support the development and construction of its late-stage pipeline projects across the BESS, solar, and green hydrogen assets in Australia’s National Energy Market and the UK.
