In order to construct the turbine islands for the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project in Egypt, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) and Rosatom’s engineering company Atomstroyexport have finalised a contract. Under the agreement, KHNP will develop 80 buildings and structures at the power plant’s four units. It will also take on the responsibility of procuring and supplying equipment and materials for the turbine islands. According to the Russian nuclear energy company, the contract was signed after a significant amount of preparation.

In July 2022, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority granted Russian nuclear power company Rosatom permission to construct El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant Unit I. Four power units with a combined capacity of 1.2 GW will be included in the nuclear project, which will be constructed in the Mediterranean city of El Dabaa. The project documentation required for obtaining the permit to build four power units at the El-Dabaa nuclear station was sent in 2021 by the Russian nuclear energy company.
