RWE has entered into an agreement with Vestas for the supply of offshore wind turbines for the Vanguard West project in UK. Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, deliver, and commission 92 of V236-15.0 MW offshore turbines for the Vanguard West wind farm. The contract follows the project securing a Contract for Difference (CfD) in Allocation Round 7 and the establishment of a partnership between RWE and KKR to jointly develop the Vanguard West and East offshore wind projects.

Located more than 45 km off the Norfolk coastline, the Vanguard West wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 1.5 million UK households annually once fully operational. RWE is targeting a final investment decision in summer 2026, with project commissioning expected in 2029. The project will be developed by RWE on behalf of the partnership with KKR.

In February 2026, the UK government announced the results of AR7 for Pot 1 renewable technologies, covering onshore wind and solar. In the auction, RWE secured CfD for five solar projects totalling 215 MW at a strike price of £65.23 per MWh, along with three onshore wind projects totalling 76 MW at £72.24 per MWh.

REGlobal’s Views: This deal comes soon after Vestas’ win in South Korea for 390 MW of offshore wind capacity. The company has been successful in winning large global orders in the recent months, at a time when a few of its competitors have struggled owing to the disruptions in the offshore wind sector.
