SAMSUNG SDI America, the Michigan-based subsidiary of SAMSUNG SDI, has signed a 1 GWh agreement to supply energy storage systems (ESS) to Alpha Omega Power. Under the agreement, SAMSUNG SDI will supply its Samsung battery box 1.7, an integrated ESS that uses nickel-cobalt-aluminum batteries.

Furthermore, the battery cells and modules will be manufactured at the StarPlus Energy plant in Kokomo, Indiana, and delivered by the end of this year. Alpha Omega Power plans to use the systems for large-scale power projects in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council and ERCOT power markets, with construction scheduled to begin next year. Including an earlier agreement signed late last year, the total supply commitment between the two companies stands at 1.5 GWh.

Earlier, in April 2026, SAMSUNG SDI announced a multi-year agreement with Mercedes-Benz to supply batteries for its next-generation electric vehicles. The batteries will use high-nickel NCM (nickel, cobalt, and manganese) technology. Mercedes-Benz will deploy the batteries in its upcoming compact and mid-size electric SUVs and coupe models.
