Scale Microgrids has inked a definitive agreement with Gutami to acquire 500 MW of distributed solar and storage projects across multiple states including California and New York. Scale and Gutami have executed an expansion agreement following their existing 100 MW partnership in New York.

Gutami will develop 500 MW of energy transition infrastructure assets. Meanwhile, Scale will acquire, finance and own the portfolio. Furthermore, the project has the capacity to power over 80,000 homes and small businesses and reduce annual carbon emissions by around 800,000 tonnes.

Scale Microgrids is a vertically integrated distributed energy platform, with a core focus of designing, building, financing, owning and operating cutting-edge distributed energy assets that offer cheaper, cleaner, and more resilient power. Gutami, established in 2006, is a privately owned global developer and investor in sustainable energy solutions and invests in, finances and acquires assets.

REGlobal’s Views: Community solar projects have gotten a significant boost in the United States owing to the direct pay mechanism and various tax credits features available under the Inflation Reduction Act. Meanwhile, states like New York and California have been quite pro-active in solar power uptake and are now also promoting solar. For Scale Microgrids, this purchase comes at a time, when the company is focusing on expanding its community solar portfolio.
