ScottishPower, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has inked two agreements to purchase 17 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Britain, totalling more than 800 MW. ScottishPower has acquired 12 solar PV projects from renewables developer Elgin Energy, with a total capacity of 519 MW and 70 MW of energy storage capacity, and the remaining solar projects from developer Lightsource BP.  The company estimates that the projects in England, Scotland, and Wales will be operational by 2025, providing enough sustainable energy to power more than 220,000 homes. The sites will require a $687 million investment to commission.

Furthermore, ScottishPower is also involved in a big wind generating project in Britain. Iberdrola announced its plans to invest £6 billion in developing the offshore wind complex East Anglia Hub in the UK at the Global Investment Summit organised by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson just two weeks before the start of COP26 in Glasgow last year, the company’s largest investment anywhere in the world and one of the largest offshore wind projects worldwide.

In April 2021, ScottishPower planned to set up a 20 MW green hydrogen project and submitted an application seeking permit. The plant would be located near the Whitelee onshore wind farm on the outskirts of Glasgow. The project would also use power sourced from a combined solar and battery having 40 MW and 50 MW of capacity respectively. The plant would have a capacity of producing up to 8 tonnes of hydrogen per day
