The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and the Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have signed a MoU to cooperate on green hydrogen development. The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration on green hydrogen from both environmental and economic perspectives.
Moreover, it will focus on the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and information between the two agencies. The agreement also includes efforts to stimulate market demand and support different applications of green hydrogen.
In June 2025, SCZONE commenced construction for a $200 million integrated industrial complex in the Ain Sokhna industrial zone, being developed by Chinese company Sunrev Solar under the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA)–Egypt. The project will be implemented in two phases: the first $90 million phase aims to establish two factories for solar cells and modules of 2 GW each, and the second $110 million phase will focus on localising production of silicon ingots, wafers, as well as expanding cell and module production.
