In this webinar titled “Toward the next phase of AZEC – Aligning energy security and clean energy ambitions”, experts from E3G, Climate Integrate, the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC) explore the future of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) as it enters its next phase. Experts assessed AZEC’s achievements so far, and what they expect from Japan’s energy transition diplomacy going forward.

Amid significant energy market turbulence and geopolitical uncertainties, the Japan-led Asia Zero Emission Community is evolving to its new “AZEC 2.0” phase. In the session, the presenters explored AZEC’s thus-far contributions to decarbonisation in Southeast Asia, the role it plays particularly in Indonesia – the partner for highest number of AZEC deals – and in the Philippines, the host country for AZEC’s high-level meetings and the Chair of ASEAN in 2026.

The presenters drew on insights from analyses including Climate Integrate’s What’s AZEC? report, E3G’s Getting the Asia Zero Emission Community right briefing, as well as the new AZEC in the Philippines case study.
