TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with Allianz Global Investors to sell a 50 per cent stake in a portfolio of 11 battery energy storage system (BESS) projects currently under construction in Germany. The portfolio has a total capacity of 789 MW/1,628 MWh, and represents a combined investment of approximately €500 million, with about 70 per cent of the investment expected to be financed through debt. The completion of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

The BESS projects are being developed across Germany by Kyon Energy, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies. All 11 systems are scheduled to become operational by 2028. Additionally, most of the BESS projects will deploy next-generation battery systems supplied by Saft, another subsidiary of TotalEnergies specialising in advanced battery technologies. Moreover, TotalEnergies will continue to operate the assets after the transaction.

In February 2026, TotalEnergies entered into two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply 1,000 MW of solar capacity to Google for its data centres in Texas over a 15-year period. The agreements cover renewable electricity generation of approximately 28 TWh during the contract term. Power will be sourced from two solar projects, namely the 805 MWp Wichita project and the 195 MWp Mustang Creek project.
