TotalEnergies has completed the divestment of its 170 MW distributed solar portfolio, comprising mainly rooftop installations across seven European countries (France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg). The portfolio has been divested to Amarenco and AMPYR Distributed Energy. The divested assets will continue to be operated by Amarenco and AMPYR Distributed Energy. TotalEnergies installed 8 GW of renewable capacity over the past 12 months, reaching 35 GW by the end of March 2026, and targets more than 75 GW by 2030.

Earlier this year, TotalEnergies signed an agreement with Allianz Global Investors to sell a 50 per cent stake in a portfolio of 11 battery energy storage system (BESS) projects currently under construction in Germany. The portfolio has a total capacity of 789 MW/1,628 MWh, and represents a combined investment of approximately €500 million, with about 70 per cent of the investment expected to be financed through debt.

Further, in September 2025, TotalEnergies entered into an agreement with KKR-managed insurance vehicles and accounts for the sale of a 50 per cent of the 1.4 GW solar portfolio in North America. The deal values the portfolio at an enterprise value of $1.25 billion. Following this transaction and a parallel bank refinancing process being finalised, TotalEnergies is expected to receive $950 million at the time of closing.

REGlobal’s Views: TotalEnergies holds nearly 36 GW of gross renewable power generation capacity as of April 2026. The company is refocusing only on development of large utility-scale solar and wind projects and has, thus, decided to end its distributed renewable generation activities in these seven European countries.
