Toyota Tsusho Corporation, through its group company AEOLUS SAS, has completed the construction of two solar plants totaling 100 MW in Tunisia. The plants, developed in partnership with Scatec ASA, are located in Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur governorates. The 50 MW Sidi Bouzid Mezzouna plant began operations in January 2026, while the 50 MW Tozeur plant began operations in March 2026.
Furthermore, these plants will supply electricity to Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas under a 30-year arrangement. The plants are expected to generate power to support approximately 120,000 households in Tunisia. These plants, supported under Japan’s JCM financing program, will help offset roughly 108,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
In December 2025, AMEA Power commissioned a 120 MWp solar project in the Kairouan Governorate of Tunisia. The project was financed with support from the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, along with the African Development Bank. It is expected to produce about 222 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the annual power demand of nearly 43,000 households.
