Trina Solar has announced that it has set up Trina Storage, a unit specializing in storage and smart energy solutions. The unit is designed to and develop innovative solutions for various areas of application, including residential batteries, grid services, large-scale storage, and microgrids. Further, the company also looks to provide flexible and scalable solutions that meet the requirements in terms of cost, quality, security, and efficiency, and meet specific customer needs.
Trina Storage will propose systems that include hardware, software, and services that are expected to make it possible to use storage quickly and inexpensively. Moreover, the company will combine lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and power conversion systems in a containerized solution with smart energy management and control systems as well as services that use only tier-one components. The current announcement follows the transition of other solar companies such as SolarEdge, Sunrun, and SunPower into the storage business. Trina Solar expects the global solar demand to grow exponentially in the coming years and looks to offer storage solutions to boost the demand for their product range.
Trina Solar was established in 1997 and has grown to be a global leader among solar PV manufacturers with its products sold across 100 countries. As of December 2020, the company has recorded over 60 GW in global shipments, obtained 888 patents for their technologies, and built an employee base of over 15,000 people.
