Uniper and WAP Energia have formed a development partnership for an onshore wind power portfolio in Poland. The collaboration involves six distinct early-stage onshore wind projects, aiming for a combined capacity of up to 600 MW. Furthermore, Uniper will oversee the development and financial aspects of the projects.
The company is committed to investing €8 billion in green growth and transformation from 2023 to 2030. In May 2024, Uniper partnered with NGEN to develop a 50 MW/100 MWh battery storage system at the Heyden power plant site in Petershagen.
The battery storage system is anticipated to be operational by 2025. The partnership between Uniper and NGEN emphasises the joint commitment to innovation and sustainability.
REGlobal’s Views: These projects will help Uniper to achieve its target to develop 10 GW of renewable energy projects to ready-to-build status by 2030. This is part of the company’s strategy to increase carbon-free power production to 80 per cent of its installed power plant capacity by 2030.
