Vena Energy has commenced construction for the 80.6 MWp Astra Solar and 300 MWp Opus Solar projects located in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. These projects together will expand the company’s total solar capacity in Ilocos Norte to approximately 480 MWp. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on 5th May 2026 for the Astra Solar project in Currimao and on 6th May 2026 for the Opus Solar project in Paoay.
The Astra Solar project is backed by a ₱2.7-billion green finance facility from Security Bank. The project is expected to generate about 142 GWh of clean electricity annually. The project will supply renewable energy to power around 120,500 households while offsetting roughly 95,400 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
The Opus Solar project is backed by a $210-million green loan from global financial institutions and is expected to provide clean energy equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 445,000 households. The project is also projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 349,000 tonnes annually. These projects build on Vena Energy’s existing solar assets in Ilocos Norte, including the 20 MW Mirae Asia Energy project and the 83.3 MW Nuevo Solar Energy project, supporting the country’s renewable energy targets of 35 per cent by 2030.
