Voltalia, an international renewable energy company, has announced the completion of a new solar power facility near Alleins, France. The 8.16 megawatt Carrière des Plaines solar power plant is located in the municipality of Alleins in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, on the site of a former quarry.

Reportedly, the plant has a twenty-year electricity contract and is made up of half crystalline photovoltaic panels and half concentrator photovoltaic modules. Its output will cover the domestic electricity requirements of over 4,560 inhabitants. To aid in the growth of the region, the factory has a grazing agreement with a local sheep breeder that permits the land to be shared.

Voltalia owns and operates wind, solar, hydraulic, biomass, and storage facilities, which the company uses to produce and sell electricity. Voltalia has more than 2 GW of operational and under-construction generating capacity, as well as a portfolio of projects under development with a total capacity of 11.1 GW. The company also serves as a service provider, assisting its investor clients in renewable energy projects through all phases of development, including design, construction, and operation and maintenance.
