Yara International has inaugurated its new ammonia import terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany, located at the strategic junction of the North Sea and Kiel Canal. This facility, with a capacity to import up to three million tonnes of low-emission ammonia annually, is set to play a pivotal role in supporting Germany’s hydrogen economy. The terminal’s location positions it as a key hub for low-emission ammonia imports to Europe.

As part of Yara’s broader strategy to enhance its core nitrogen business, this project aligns with the company’s vision for sustainable growth in a low-carbon future. By bolstering the infrastructure necessary for large-scale ammonia imports, the terminal will also contribute significantly to Germany’s hydrogen strategy. Its role in advancing cleaner energy aligns with both Yara’s ambitions and broader European efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy.

Yara is a global leader in crop nutrition and environmental solutions. The company is committed to tackling global challenges and driving positive change. In July 2024, PepsiCo Europe and Yara announced a long-term partnership in Europe aimed at providing farmers with crop nutrition programs to help decarbonise the food value chain.
