Supply Chain Carbon Risks in South Korea: Report

South Korean companies are facing increasing carbon risks along their supply chains as global carbon regulations continue to strengthen. These directives include the International Financial Reporting Standards Sustainability Standards (IFRS S2), the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), as well as voluntary carbon management initiatives across the global tech industry. A growing number of Asian markets, such as Singapore and Hong Kong, have mandated IFRS S2, requiring companies to disclose climate-related risks and opportunities.

Maryland’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard: Report

The Maryland RPS Program is designed to support a stable and predictable market for energy generated from renewables, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and eliminate carbon–fueled generation from the State’s electric grid, and to lower the cost to consumers of electricity produced from these resources. Increasing reliance upon renewable energy technologies to satisfy electric power requirements can result in long-term emission reductions, increased fuel diversity, and economic benefits to the State.

Red Eléctrica will need to accelerate investment to meet increasing system needs: IEEFA

REE stands at the centre of Spain’s energy transition, balancing the urgent need for accelerated grid investment with the imperative to preserve financial stability and governance discipline. The company’s role as the sole TSO gives it a unique responsibility to ensure Spain’s renewable energy targets are achieved. Despite REE’s solid investment-grade profile and strategic execution under the 2021-2025 plan, a material investment gap remains. The forthcoming 2026-2030 strategic plan must therefore deliver a structural scale-up in capex, especially in interconnections, digitalisation and energy storage.

Voluntary Carbon Market Can Help Advance U.S. Energy, Trade, and Innovation Strategies: Bipartisan Policy Center

A robust voluntary carbon market can advance U.S. economic and national security interests both domestically and abroad. Just like any other market, the VCM will require certain guardrails and support if it is too mature and scale and to deliver on its potential. Federal support does not require top-down regulation. Targeted actions could help deliver on the areas above and reinforce the role of high-integrity credits in broader U.S. economic, climate, and trade strategy. As the federal government looks to maintain U.S. leadership in innovation and energy, thoughtful policy for the VCM can play an important role.

The Global South will be central to the next wave of solar leadership: ISA’s Ashish Khanna

Solar, batteries and related technologies are no longer niche, given they are now the least-cost generation option for most countries. The Global South will be central to the next wave of solar leadership, as the world has doubled solar generation capacity from 1,000 GW to 2,000 GW in just two years, with expectations of doubling to 4,600 GW by 2030. Asia is expected to account for more than 70 per cent of this expansion. This is not just for climate reasons, but because the economics is driving the expansion of solar, storage and transmission.
