ContourGlobal has signed a 3 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) supply agreement with CATL. The agreement spans across projects located in the UK, Greece and Chile. The deal covers 526 containers of 5.64 MWh each, all configured for four-hour discharge. The systems will use CATL’s liquid-cooled, containerized BESS technology based on large-format lithium iron phosphate cells. The agreement also offers flexibility to align supply with project development.

In August 2026, ContourGlobal commenced construction of the Los Maitenes hybrid renewable energy project in Chile. The project will combine 131 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity along with a 90 MW/360 MWh BESS. Furthermore, the project is expected to generate around 220 GWh of clean electricity annually. Project completion is expected by the end of 2027.

In July 2026, ContourGlobal signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Tesla for Project Sterling in Arizona. The project features a 450 MWac solar PV and 360 MW/1.4 GWh of four-hour duration BESS. The project is expected to generate more than 1.1 TWh of electricity annually. The agreement covers approximately 1 TWh of electricity annually, representing about 90 per cent of the project’s output.
