Anheuser-Busch, a leading brewer in the United States, has announced a $64 million clean energy investment in its Los Angeles brewery. This will include a large onsite solar system with solar power expected to provide more than 10 percent of the site’s total electricity usage.

Earlier this year, the brewer announced that it has reached 100 percent renewable electricity for its beverage production activities in the United States, a goal that had previously been set for 2025. Anheuser-Busch has now invested in 12 renewable energy generation projects across the United States. The ten initiatives are spread between flagship brewers, distribution centres, and craft partner breweries.

Along with a solar farm in Texas, the company has another offsite asset, the 152MW Budweiser Wind Farm at Thunder Ranch, Oklahoma. This was developed as part of a PPA with Enel’s Green Power Arm. Anheuser-Busch claims to have contributed almost 400 MW of renewable power generating capacity to the grid in the United States, resulting in a reduction of 950,000 metric tonnes of CO2e associated with energy generation from fossil fuels.
