Arevon Energy has made construction progress on the Cormorant battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Daly City, California. The project has an installed capacity of 250 MW/1,000 MWh and is expected to commence operations in 2027. The project will use lithium iron phosphate battery technology and can supply power to 321,000 homes for up to a four hour duration.
Furthermore, the project, developed, owned and operated by Arevon, is being constructed in partnership with Primoris Services Corporation’s Renewables group. The project has a long-term offtake agreement with MCE and was expanded from its original 188 MW/752 MWh capacity. The project is also expected to avoid 174,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
In August 2026, Arevon Energy commenced operations of the Nighthawk BESS project. The project is located in Poway, California. The project has an installed capacity of 300 MW/1,200 MWh. The project uses lithium iron phosphate battery technology. The project can provide enough energy to power up to 385,000 homes for up to four hours duration.
