Atlas Renewable Energy (Atlas) and Colbún have inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in the Antofagasta Region, Chile. The project will have an installed capacity of 230 MW and a storage capacity of 920 MWh per day. This is a 15 year PPA and allows Atlas to build the BESS project and Colbún to acquire the project’s energy supply.
Furthermore, the project will feature independent and autonomous batteries designed to store electrical energy from the system. The energy generated from the system will be injected into the 220 kV Crucero Substation. The project is expected to reach commercial operation in 2027.
Atlas Renewable Energy is a Chile-based renewable energy company dedicated towards generating and commercialising power and providing energy solutions. The company has 27 power plants in Chile and Peru and an installed capacity of approximately 4,000 MW.
