Blueleaf Energy and Universal Peak Sdn Bhd have achieved financial close with United Overseas Bank for a utility-scale battery energy storage (BESS) project in Malaysia. The project will have an installed capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh. Project construction will commence under a build, own, and operate model. Universal Peak will support the project as a turnkey provider of electrical infrastructure solutions. The project is expected to be commissioned in mid-2027.
In August 2026, Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) granted conditional approvals to Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd and Southern Solar Alliance Pte Ltd to import a combined 900 MW of electricity from Peninsular Malaysia. Sembcorp Utilities has received approval for a proposed capacity of 300 MW, while Southern Solar Alliance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian developer Ditrolic Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd, has received approval for 600 MW.
In October 2025, Blueleaf Energy partnered with the British International Investment (BII) to accelerate clean energy infrastructure development in India. BII will provide a $75 million financing facility to Blueleaf Energy and the financing will support nearly 2 GW of installed clean energy capacity, including solar, wind and battery energy storage projects. The projects are expected to generate over 3.2 GWh of clean energy annually and avoid approximately 3.1 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
