Bute Energy, a Welsh renewable energy company, has unveiled plans to build Llyn Lort Energy Park, a 165 MW wind farm to be located in Powys County, Wales. The requirements of approximately 144,000 households will be met by the power generated by the wind farm. Moreover, the project will support the Welsh Government’s 2035 aim of obtaining 100 per cent of its electricity needs from renewable sources by facilitating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Furthermore, 25 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 220 metres will power it. The company is organising a primary round of public consultation, which was opened on the sixth of this month and will end in October 2023. It wants to get ideas from the local community about the turbine locations, buildings, equipment, and access routes in this first round of consultation.

In April 2023, National Grid and TenneT unveiled plans for LionLink, an innovative cross-border direct current cable that would connect offshore wind between the UK and the Netherlands. The LionLink project is a multi-purpose or hybrid interconnector that would connect up to 2 GW of offshore wind capacity between the British and Dutch electricity systems.
