Israel to develop solar-plus-storage project

Israel’s Finance Ministry has announced that a new solar plant integrated with the battery energy storage system (BESS) will be developed at the Ashalim power station in southern Israel. The project is designed to deliver up to 80 MW of electricity to the national grid. It will include solar photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 150 MW. Additionally, the project will incorporate a 400 MWh BESS.

ACME Solar secures financing for clean energy projects in India

ACME Solar Holdings has bagged a debt tie-up of Rs 47.2 billion from Indian financial institutions. Out of the total financing, Rs 27.1 billion has been secured from Power Finance Corporation for ACME’s 300 MW firm and dispatchable energy (FDRE) project. Furthermore, Rs 8 billion was secured from the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure Development. The remaining amount of Rs 12.09 billion was secured from Yes Bank.

Altus Power acquires 234 MW solar and storage portfolio in US

Altus Power has completed the acquisition of a 234 MW portfolio of solar generation and storage assets from Greenbacker. The projects span more than 100 locations across 18 states in US. The acquired assets include long-term contracted projects serving a mix of customers, including a global e-commerce and logistics firm, a regional university, and multiple utilities.

Equinor’s wind-solar hybrid project in Brazil begins operations 

Equinor has commenced commercial operations at its first hybrid project in Brazil, combining 140 MW of solar capacity with 223 MW of wind capacity at the Serra da Babilônia site in Bahia. The solar plant has been developed alongside the existing wind project, Serra da Babilônia Wind, operated by its subsidiary, Rio Energy. The solar plant is expected to produce 236 GWh of renewable energy annually.

BrightNight along with its joint venture partner Cordelio Power have completed financial close for the Greenwater energy storage project. The 200 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project, located in Pierce County, Washington, will supply firm capacity and grid support to Puget Sound Energy. The project has secured this financing of nearly $400 million from a group of banks.

RWE commissions solar-plus-storage project in Texas

RWE has commissioned the Stoneridge solar project in Milam County, Texas. The project, comprising 200 MW of solar capacity along with 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage, will contribute to strengthening the regional energy supply. The project created more than 200 construction jobs and now includes ongoing permanent operational roles. Additionally, it is set to contribute several million dollars in tax revenue to Milam county.

Associated British Ports (ABP) Southampton is collaborating with BW ESS to establish a new battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Marchwood industrial park. As per the agreement, BW ESS will develop, own and operate the BESS project. Furthermore, the project is scheduled to become fully operational by late 2028. It will have an estimated lifespan of 40 years.

rPlus Energies acquires 900 MW solar-plus-storage projects in Idaho

rPlus Energies has completed the acquisition of two solar-plus-storage projects in Ada County, Idaho. The two projects are the Blacks Creek energy center and the Bluebird solar project, with a cumulative capacity of 900 MW. The  Blacks Creek energy center consists of 400 MW of solar capacity along with 200 MW of storage. The acquisitions add to the company’s existing activities in Ada County.

Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trinasolar, has finalised an agreement for a 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Amyntaio, Western Macedonia, Greece. The BESS projects will be supplied on a full turnkey AC basis. It will include DC battery cabinets, power conversion systems (PCS), medium-voltage (MV) skids, and a power plant controller.

Masdar to develop 300 MW BESS project in Uzbekistan

Masdar has signed a battery storage service agreement with JSC Uzenergosotish to develop a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Uzbekistan. The 300 MW/600 MWh Zarafshan BESS project in Navoiy will be connected to the Murunau substation and forms the first phase of a broader national battery storage programme. The project is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2028.

Enlight Renewable Energy has finalised a $1.44 billion debt financing arrangement for its Snowflake A project located near Holbrook, Arizona. The project comprises 600 MW of solar generation with 1,900 MWh of energy storage capacity. It is scheduled to commence commercial operations in the second half of 2027. The project has a 20-year busbar power purchase and energy storage agreement with Arizona Public Service.

The financing includes $95 million for the 150 MW/300 MWh Cranberry Point energy storage facility in Carver, Massachusetts, and $65 million for the 175 MW/350 MWh Cross Town energy storage facility in Gorham, Maine.

Clearway inks agreements for solar-plus-storage project in Washington

Clearway Energy Group has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and a 20-year energy storage agreement with the Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County (Grant PUD) for the Royal Slope Energy Center project. The project is located in Grant County, Washington and comprises a 260 MW solar plant and a 260 MW battery energy storage system. It is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.

Enlight secures financing for Quail Ranch project in US

Enlight Renewable Energy has finalised a tax equity financing agreement worth nearly $150 million for its Quail Ranch project in New Mexico. The financing was arranged through Wells Fargo Bank under a structure that includes a contribution of $131 million after the project reaches commercial operation, which is expected to rise to nearly $150 million over the first 10 years through pay-go contributions.

Iberdrola issues €1 billion green hybrid bond

Iberdrola has issued €1 billion in green hybrid bonds to refinance a hybrid bond maturing early next year. The bond, perpetual in nature, includes a repurchase option starting in August 2031 and carries a coupon of 3.75 per cent. The issuance complies with both the International Capital Market Association’s Green Bond Principles and the European Union Green Bond Standard. Investor demand for the issuance reached €8 billion.

Jupiter gets BESS contract from Austin Energy

Austin Energy has entered into an agreement with Jupiter Power to supply up to 100 MW of electricity from a utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Houston, Texas. The contract is valued at approximately $14.4 million per year, with a duration of up to 20 years. This amounts to a total of around $288 million over the contracted period. The BESS will store electricity during low-demand periods and release it when demand peaks.
