World Bank approves $500 million for Indonesia power grid upgrade

The World Bank has approved $500 million for the Indonesia Electricity Network Transformation (I-ENET) programme to modernise the electricity distribution system in the Java, Madura, and Bali regions. The initiative is aimed at supporting the integration of renewable energy and accelerating the digital transition of the power grid. The programme will run from 2025 to 2032 under PLN’s National Electricity Business Plan (RUPTL).

DEME bags contract for offshore wind project in Taiwan

DEME, through its Taiwanese joint venture CDWE, has won a contract for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The scope includes transporting and installing 35 foundations and the offshore substation, along with carrying out scour protection works. Foundation installation is planned to begin in the first half of 2027, subject to the final investment decision.

Brookfield, Solarvest to develop 1.5 GW of renewable projects in Malaysia

Brookfield has entered into a joint investment framework agreement with Solarvest Holdings Bhd to jointly develop, construct, and operate more than 1,500 MW of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. These projects will be developed in Malaysia over the next three to five years. Furthermore, the initiative marks Brookfield’s first investment in Malaysia through its Catalytic Transition Fund.

ADB approves $52 million loan for Cambodia grid expansion project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $52.72 million loan to support the Grid Expansion Project in Cambodia. The initiative will boost the national transmission network, enable greater integration of renewable energy, and address the country’s increasing electricity demand with locally generated clean power. To accommodate this, the initiative will construct 55 km of 230 kV transmission lines between Pursat and Kampong Chhnang.

Citicore energises agro-solar plus BESS project in Philippines

Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has switched on the Batangas 1 Power Plants, consisting of the Lumbangan and Luntal projects. The projects will have a capacity of 197 MW of hybrid agro-solar with a 320 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The projects are a part of CREC’s plan to add 5 GW of renewable capacity within the next five years.

Adani and DGPC to develop 570 MW hydro project in Bhutan

Adani Power and Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) have signed agreements to develop the 570 MW Wangchhu hydroelectric project in Bhutan. The agreements include a shareholders agreement, a concession agreement with the Royal Government of Bhutan, and an initial understanding on the power purchase agreement. The project will be executed on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis.

Philippines announces results of GEA-4

The Philippines Department of Energy has released the results of the fourth green energy auction (GEA-4). The tendered capacity was 10,653 MW, with 9,423.622 MW subscribed, reflecting an 88 per cent subscription rate. The auction covered ground-mounted, roof-mounted, and floating solar, onshore wind, and integrated solar with energy storage systems. A total of 111 bids were accepted.

ERG launches 150 MW wind project in Kazakhstan

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) has launched a 150 MW wind project in Kazakhstan. The project, located in the Aktobe Region, consists of 24 installed wind turbines. It reportedly involved an investment of more than $142 million. The project is expected to produce more than 500 million KWh of electricity annually. The project received financial support from the Development Bank of Kazakhstan.

Thailand floats tender for 364 MW floating solar 

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has invited bids for the Srinagarind Dam floating solar project 3 in Thailand. The project will have a planned capacity between 363.95 MW and 364 MW. It is estimated to cost around THB 7.13 billion. Reportedly, EGAT will finance the project. The deadline for bid submission is September 26, 2025.  It forms part of EGAT’s plan to develop floating solar projects on dam reservoirs across Thailand.

ADB, GSA ink deal for green data center in Thailand

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a green loan worth THB 900 million (USD 26.8 million) with GSA Data Center 01 Company Limited (GSA) to finance the development, construction and operation of a 25.6 MW colocation green data center in Samut Prakan, Thailand. GSA is a joint venture between Gulf Development, Singtel, and AIS. Operations for the data center are scheduled to begin in 2025.

Cross-border wind farm in Laos begins commercial operations

The 600 MW Monsoon wind power project in southern Lao PDR has commenced full commercial operations. Construction and full grid connection were completed within 27 months, four months ahead of the schedule. The project has 133 wind turbines installed, and is located across the Dak Cheung District in Sekong Province and the Sanxay District in Attapeu Province.

Jakson plans 6 GW solar manufacturing plant in India

Jakson Engineers Limited is planning to invest over Rs 80 billion to establish a 6 GW integrated solar module, cell and wafer plant at Maksi Phase II, Madhya Pradesh, India. The manufacturing plant will be developed in two phases across a 110-acre site. In Phase I, the manufacturing capacity of  3 GW of solar modules and 3 GW of solar cells will be commissioned with an investment of approximately Rs 20 billion.

Construction begins at Brunei’s flagship solar project

Brunei has commenced construction of a 30 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Kampong Belimbing. The project is being developed by Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, Khazanah Satu Sdn Bhd, and Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd. It will be located on a remediated landfill site covering 32.29 hectares and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2026.

Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has signed a Php 4.4 billion project finance loan agreement with Security Bank Corporation and Security Bank Capital Investment Corporation. The project financing pertains towards the development and completion of its 125 MWp Citicore Solar Pangasinan project in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. The project is currently under construction.
