IFC and CleanMax join forces to expand C&I solar capacity in Thailand

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has invested approximately $45 million in CleanMax Energy (Thailand) Company Limited, a subsidiary of Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Private Limited. The investment will support the development of 35 MWp of greenfield solar capacity, refinance 41 MWp of existing operating solar projects, and  boost the country’s commercial and industrial (C&I) solar segment.

Vena Energy inks PPA with SECI for 100 MW under FDRE scheme in India

Vena Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for a 100 MW renewable energy project under the firm and despatchable renewable energy (FDRE) scheme. The agreement marks India’s first load-following PPA, designed to align energy supply with the hourly demand profile of discoms. Furthermore, the project is Vena Energy’s first integrated wind-solar-storage project in India.

Amogy and GreenHarvest join forces for ammonia-to-power project in Taiwan

Amogy has partnered with GreenHarvest for the deployment of an ammonia-to-power system in Taiwan. Under this partnership, Amogy will provide the ammonia-to-power system, whereas GreenHarvest as the power generation and distribution partner, will lead local integration. Installation of the system is scheduled between late 2026 and early 2027. The installation will take place at a selected large industrial electricity consumer facility in Taiwan.

Zelestra begins commercial operation of 435 MWdc solar project in India

Zelestra has commenced commercial operations at the Gorbea solar plant in Rajasthan, India. The solar plant has a capacity of 435 MWdc and was delivered in under eight months. The project is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and will generate 755 GWh of clean energy annually. Furthermore, the project supported over 800 jobs during its construction phase.

YPP to invest $3.1 billion in Kazakhstan’s green hydrogen project

YPP Corporation (YPP) and KAZAKH INVEST have inked a framework agreement to develop a green hydrogen production project in Kazakhstan. The parties intend to implement a Green Energy Complex in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The investment in the project may reach up to $3.1 billion. The project includes the construction of wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of up to 2 GW.

The Sustainable and Affordable Energy for Life (SAEL) Industries Limited, through its subsidiary SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited, has announced plans to establish an integrated solar manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh, India. The upcoming manufacturing facility is projected to have an annual capacity of 5 GW of solar cell production and 5 GW of solar module assembly, with an estimated total investment of Rs 82 billion, reportedly.

wpd inks PPA for onshore wind project in Japan

wpd, in cooperation with GPSS Group, has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nomura Real Estate Development Company Limited for the Higashi Izu Furusato onshore wind power project in Japan. The project is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, around 120 km southwest of Tokyo, on a coastal mountain ridge. The wind farm will have a capacity of 7.48 MW and scheduled to begin operations in May 2026.

Deep Wind Offshore secures license for offshore wind project in South Korea

Deep Wind Offshore’s Admiral Lee offshore wind project has secured its first electricity business license with an installed capacity of 345 MW. The license has been received from Korea’s Electricity Regulatory Commission under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE). The offshore wind project is being developed based on a partnership between Deep Wind Offshore and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.

ADB and GCF launch $200 million green financing programme in India

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has partnered with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to launch the India Green Finance Facility (IGFF), supported by $200 million in concessional funding from GCF. The IGFF is ADB’s first collaboration with GCF in India. It will use blended finance to extend lines of credit to national development finance institutions (DFIs), which will be responsible for building and managing a pipeline of clean energy projects.

China launches 25 GWh battery energy storage auction 

China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has launched an auction for 25 GWh of lithium-iron phosphate battery systems. The tender launched by CEEC is structured into three packages totalling 25 GWh. It covers systems with durations of one, two, and four hours. Package one consists of one-hour systems with a capacity of 3 GW/3 GWh. The bids for one-hour systems ranged from CNY 0.673 to CNY 0.89/Wh, with an average bid of CNY 0.7863/Wh.

ArcelorMittal cancels plans for green steel plants in Germany due to high energy costs

ArcelorMittal has canceled plans to convert two plants in Germany to carbon-neutral production. The company has turned down €1.3 billion in subsidies. The government of Germany hoped that the subsidies would motivate the company to convert existing plants to use furnaces fired with hydrogen. Reportedly, the plans were nixed because the country’s energy costs were too high and there was uncertainty about its future energy mix.

Saft to supply BESS for Gurīn’s energy storage project in Japan

Saft will supply a battery energy storage system (BESS) for Gurīn Energy’s (Gurīn) energy storage project. The energy storage project is being developed in Fukushima, Japan. Lightsource bp secures financing for 115 MWp fishery solar project in Taiwan

Lightsource bp has secured approximately TWD 6 billion in financing for its fishery solar project. The project has a capacity of 115 MWp and is situated in Budai and Yizhu Townships within Chiayi County, Taiwan. Construction of the project is set to commence in June 20205. Saatvik Solar to develop 4 GW module manufacturing facility in India

Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saatvik Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has commenced work to develop a 4 GW solar PV module manufacturing facility in Odisha, India. The facility will be set up on 57 acres of land sub-leased from Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, located at the Gopalpur industrial park in Ganjam district. The cell manufacturing facility is scheduled to become operational by the end of financial year 2026-2027.
