Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has floated bids to build, own, and operate 30 MW of ground mounted and floating solar projects in Sri Lanka. The capacities in the project would range from 1 MW to 5 MW for a period of 20 years. The scope of the project includes assessment of environmental impacts of proposed solar power projects and obtaining all necessary environmental clearances and approvals from the authorities in accordance with Central Environmental Authority guidelines.
According to the tender guidelines, the project must be completed within ten months of the power purchase agreement’s signing. Also, bidders must submit a proposal security deposit of LKR 3 million/MW. The successful bidder must submit a performance security deposit of LKR 22 million within 30 days of the letter of award. The solar modules used in the project must meet the relevant international standards (IEC 61215, IEC 61730, or the latest available equivalent standards). International standards (IEEE 1547:2003/UL 1741, IEC 62109) should also be met by inverters.
The equipment provided should be fresh and unused. All equipment and project designs must comply with the CEB regulations that apply to any power project connected to the Sri Lankan power system, as specified in the ‘CEB Guide for Grid Interconnection of Embedded Generators, Sri Lanka”. The bid submission deadline is October 27, 2022.
