Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), via its Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV) fund, and its joint venture partner SSE Thermal, have completed the construction and initiated operations of 60 MWe Slough Multifuel project. It is a Waste to Energy plant situated in Slough, England. The plant’s capacity was upgraded from 50 MW to 60 MW during construction, and performance guarantees have been established to ensure a high standard of operational efficiency.
Furthermore, HZI has been awarded a 25-year contract to deliver operations and maintenance at Slough Multifuel. The project offers a sustainable and eco-friendly waste management solution for the Greater London region by processing 480,000 tonnes of residual waste annually. The project already has several mid- and long-term fuel supply agreements in place.
CIP secured a 50 per cent stake in the project from SSE Thermal back in 2020. Since then both parties have co-developed the project through its final development phase. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
In May 2024, CIP, through its Energy Transition Fund, and Uniper inked a MoU to collaborate on green hydrogen. The partnership between CIP and Uniper will drive collaboration on the production, transport, and marketing of green hydrogen from the HØST PtX Esbjerg project, located on the Danish West Coast, to Germany.
