Econergy has signed financing agreements of approximately €229 million for its Părău 2 hybrid project in Romania. The project combines a 342 MWp solar plant with a 150 MW co-located battery energy storage system (BESS). The project is currently under construction and is expected to commence operations in late 2027 or early 2028. Financing close of the project is expected to be completed by November 2026.
Furthermore, the project financing is led by a consortium comprising European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, Exim Banca Românească S.A., NLB d.d., OTP Bank Plc, and Banca Comercială Intesa Sanpaolo România together with its subsidiary Privredna banka Zagreb d.d. The project also secured 125 MW under Romania’s contract-for-difference scheme at €49.4/MWh for 15 years.
In August 2026, Econergy’s 59 MW Iancu Jianu solar project in Romania was connected to the grid. The project is Econergy’s fifth connected project in Romania, bringing its total connected and ready-to-connect portfolio to 743 MW. A 35 MW/70 MWh BESS is also planned to be integrated at the site which is expected to get connected by the second quarter of 2027.
