Elecnor secured a contract in Mexico for the engineering, supply, and construction of the Cimarrón wind farm, which will have a capacity of 320 MW. The project is currently under construction and is situated in La Rumorosa and the municipality of Tecate, Baja California.

Furthermore, the wind farm features 64 wind turbines using Vestas technology, along with 70 km of roads, a 45 km medium-voltage network, a 30 km power line carrying 230 kV, and a step-up substation. It will provide clean energy equivalent to the consumption of over 84,000 homes in California and will help reduce carbon emissions by more than 200,000 tonnes annually.

Additionally, the wind farm has a 20 year power purchase agreement with Silicon Valley Power to provide renewable energy to Santa Clara, California. The construction of the wind farm is expected to create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs and is scheduled to begin producing power by the end of 2025. This will be the third wind farm that the company has built in Mexico.
