Liquid Wind and Uniper have inked a strategic partnership agreement for the development of eFuel facilities to produce fossil-free eMethanol. By joining forces, the companies will leverage each other’s strengths and skills for the commercial-scale development of eFuel facilities, reducing costs, risks and developing the supply chain.
Under the agreement, Liquid Wind and Uniper will explore opportunities to work together on plant development, power supply, and the off-take of eMethanol. According to Uniper, large-scale eFuel production is vital for transitioning to a low-carbon society. Liquid Wind may provide development services for Uniper’s future eFuel plants, while Uniper could supply the plants with fossil-free electricity and procure eMethanol for commercial distribution.
In May 2024, Uniper and CIP signed a MoU to collaborate on green hydrogen. The partnership between CIP and Uniper will drive collaboration on the production, transport, and marketing of green hydrogen from the HØST PtX Esbjerg project, located on the Danish West Coast, to Germany.
