Energy Vault Holdings has acquired an 850 MW battery energy storage (BESS) development portfolio from a domestic developer in Japan. The portfolio includes 350 MW of advanced-stage projects expected to begin construction in the second half of 2027 and operations in the second half of 2028, along with 500 MW of early-stage projects.

In January 2026, Energy Vault Holdings began construction of the SOSA energy center, a 150 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage system project located in Madison County, Texas, within the ERCOT North market. The project was initially developed by Savion, a Shell plc subsidiary, and was acquired by Energy Vault in the fourth quarter of 2025. Commercial operations for the project are expected in the second quarter of 2027.

In August 2025, Energy Vault and Astor Enerji signed an agreement to strengthen global supply chains for battery energy storage systems projects. The agreement includes the supply of 2 GWh of Energy Vault’s B-VAULT BESS for Astor Enerji’s four grid-connected photovoltaic projects in Romania. These BESS projects will be operated using Energy Vault’s VaultOS energy management platform to improve performance and ensure grid stability.
