European Energy, a Danish renewable energy company, is aiming to set up a 65 MW solar project in the municipality of Anyksciai, Lithuania. The new facility is anticipated to go into operation in fourth quarter, 2023. The project will cover more than 120 acres, with more than 140,000 solar panels, and produce 90,000 MWh yearly. It is anticipated that the project will meet the power requirements of nearly 24,000 homes.
Reportedly, the solar panels will be placed on tracker systems, which will regulate the panels according to the sunlight, which will help in generating optimal power supply throughout the day. In addition to this solar farm, the company has other solar projects in Jonava and Skuodas in the country that are slated to be connected to the grid by 2026.
In January 2021, Eneco and European Energy formed a new joint venture called Swan Wind. The two companies had joined forces so as to submit a proposal for the Thor offshore wind farm tender and the Danish Energy Agency qualified this joint venture for the said tender. Thor offshore wind farm is one of the two large offshore wind farms to be built in Denmark before 2030.
