Growth Opportunity Partners (Growth Opps), a community financial institution, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union have formed a partnership. This collaboration aims to implement the Solar for All program funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Growth Opps is leading a $250 million grant application for the Industrial Heartland Solar Coalition, representing 31 cities across 8 states.

The coalition’s application proposes fully funding residential and community solar installations by utilizing energy tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act. It transfers ownership of these solar projects to program beneficiaries at no cost. The program targets nearly 30,000 homes across the 8-state region, with 100% of benefits going to disadvantaged communities.

The partnership outlines a commitment to creating high-quality jobs with a skilled and diverse workforce for projects financed by the fund. Both organizations will promote labor agreements, comply with wage requirements, and expand IBEW’s training programs to provide opportunities for underrepresented groups.
