Hygreen Energy has announced the establishment of the Middle East Electrolysers Company, a joint venture (JV) company with the Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry (GECI). The JV company will be based in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, and aims to localise manufacturing and deployment of electrolyser systems in the country. The JV is intended to meet rising demand for high-efficiency electrolyser technologies in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region, and the broader Middle East and North Africa.

It will support the expansion of green hydrogen projects and align with national initiatives like Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Hydrogen Strategy of the Ministry of Energy. Additionally, the JV company will focus on technology transfer, set up a dedicated research and development centre, and implement training initiatives in collaboration with Saudi universities and research bodies. These measures are intended to strengthen local capabilities and expand domestic participation.

In September 2025, Stargate Hydrogen signed an MoU with Saudi Arabia’s Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Authority to advance cooperation in green hydrogen technologies, facilitated by Apex Ventures under RDI’s Global Startups Attraction Programme with the Ministry of Investment. The agreement outlines collaboration on technology transfer, strengthening the regional hydrogen value chain, and supporting industrial carbon reduction across multiple focus areas.
